"You always know how to get in trouble don't you Snips?" Anakin yelled over the blaster fire.

Ashoka stood, back to back with her Master, "Hey! I didn't do it this time! The droids walked into US."

Anakin chuckled as he batted a bolt away, the deflected laser running into a droid.

Anakin's commlink beeped. The jeti activated it and put it to his mouth and listened, holding his lightsaber in his left hand.

"General! We are pinned down, sector 4 dash six oh-" A large explosion from the comm made Anakin cringe.

"Rex? Rex if you can here me Ashoka and I are on our way." Anakin deactivated the comm and sliced a droid in two.

Ashoka batted red lasers away, "I'll go get Rex Master, you take these tinnies out!"

"I'll cover you, hurry up padawan, Rex is waiting." Anakin grunted and he stabbed another droid with his saber.

Ashoka sprinted off to where Rex had last been when their two squads had separated. The trees and bushes slapped her face as she flew by. She stumbled as something grabbed her leg.

"Ahhh!" she cried, hitting the ground on her elbows.

Fearfully she twisted, trying to draw her lightsaber.

"Commander!" a familiar voice gasped, gripping tighter.

Ashoka, still adrenaline filled, glanced behind her to see Rex laying on his stomach to her side.

"Rex? Where is everyon-"

"Dead, sir, and if you don't be quieter we might be next.." Rex said meaningfully.

Ashoka looked around, " What's wrong?"

Rex raised his head, " Well, there were commando droids. I don't know where they went though.."

Ashoka's head tails quivered, " Commando droids..?"

"Big, mean and tough tinnies. Smart, if you can call them that." Rex's helmet wasn't facing her.

Ashoka sighed faintly, " So.. we just.. lay here-"

Ashoka's breath caught. She sensed the droid before she saw it, Rex had probably saw it on his HUD, because he froze beside her. Ashoka looked at the captain from the corner of her eye and slowly gestured to her lightsaber. Rex shook his head sharply and before Ashoka could reply to that he jumped up at the commando droid, snapping it's neck.

Ashoka lay gaping on the ground before scrambling up.

"We have to keep it quiet littl'un. Not draw attention to ourselves." Rex whispered.

Ashoka felt a tug in the Force. On instinct she ignited her lightsaber. The red laser bounced off her green blade, away from Rex's head, where it had been aimed.

"Well that wasn't quiet enough Rexter." she grunted as the two stood back to back with each other.

Rex drew both his twin blasters and held them up, waiting to be used.

There were three commando droids. Ashoka knew that. But she couldn't feel droid's thoughts. They didn't HAVE brains.. in a sense. She didn't know when they would strike, and that scared her.

Rex shot into the trees, he obviously saw something she didn't. There was a clunk as something hit the ground.

"One down." Rex sounded satisfied.

Ashoka saw a faint glint of metal and stepped forward to slice at it. With satisfaction the droid groaned and clanked forward a few steps before hitting the ground.

"Now I got-"

"Ashoka!"

Ashoka cried out as a burning sensation hit her back. She fell to the ground in a heap, faintly aware of something exploding near her. She really didn't want to know what it was. She sensed someone was now kneeling by her, and she recognized  his voice.

"Commander? Ah.."

She was aware of strangely gentle hands touching her back. She yelped, it hurt. The hand recoiled back.

"Sorry.." she heard the murmur.

Rex picked her up and Ashoka pressed into his armor, it was cool to the touch. The captain started walking, probably taking her back to her master. There was something wrong with his gait.

A limp? Ashoka guessed to herself.

"Rex.." she sighed tiredly.

His response was automatic, " Yes commander?"

Ashoka turned her head to stare into his T shaped visor, " Thanks."

If his helmet had been off she was sure he would have been smiling, "Hey, it's my job."

"How bad is it?"

Rex shrugged and she winced, "Nothing that won't heal."

She nodded and started thinking about what her master would do when he learned that she got hurt while not paying attention to other enemies. She would have to listen to another lecture.

"I'll say it snuck up behind you." Rex muttered.

Ashoka looking into his helmet again and giggled, "Are you sure your not Force sensitive?"

Rex laughed, one of the things Ashoka rarely heard from the captain, "No, I just read your face expressions."

Ashoka smiled closed her eyes.

Getting drowsy to the sway of the clone captain's walk, Ashoka thought I know two things.. I'm going to be a Jeti.. and I have a friend.<i>

Perhaps when you get the chance you can come back and edit this. The grammar and punctuation are a tad off. Other than that, it is a cute concept. :)
